Our team at GESPLAN wants to actively contribute to development as part of the fight against poverty, inequality and global food insecurity and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
Solving these problems can only be achieved from a collective effort and personal commitment. Public-private partnerships, partnerships between the university and civil society as well as between the global north and south face the challenge of promoting new initiatives, networks, methodologies and approaches, which counteract current trends. To achieve this objective, GESPLAN has actively collaborated with several international development agencies in recent years: the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Potato Center of Peru (CIP), the Spanish Agency for Development and Cooperation (AECI), the ETEA Foundation for Development and Cooperation, Action Against Hunger (AcH) as well as the Club of Rome. Similarly, collaboration linked to Development Cooperation has been initiated with departments of Central American Universities.
A result of these partnerships are several implemented development project in Latin America, for example in Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru. Additionally, the collaboration with the international development organizations has been the foundation of courses and conferences about hunger and human development, facilitating professional as well as interdisciplinary knowledge exchange.
